The Virginia Department of Health’s Division of Vital Records announced a $2 increase in fees for a copy of a vital record, to $12. The fee increase was authorized in the 2004 state budget.

Citizens are encouraged to visit the agency’s Web site for information on how to obtain a copy of a birth certificate, death certificate, marriage license or divorce record.

The Web site also contains the list of acceptable ID needed to get a vital record, and directions to the Virginia office.
